About

Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Janne Ruokolainen

My name is Monika Król and I am from Poland. I received my bachelor’s degree in Paper Technology from Technical University of Łódź, Poland. I completed a double master’s degree in functionalized advanced material engineering in Grenoble INP, France and TU Darmstadt, Germany. My master thesis research was connected to designing an encapsulating sulfur polymer derived ceramic based cathode for Li-S batteries systems.

In March 2021, I joined ETN Polystorage under the supervision of Prof. Janne Ruokolainen at host institution Aalto University in Finland. The aim of my PhD project is examination of equilibrium structures of ion-containing block copolymers by means of cutting edge microscopic methods and scattering methods.

I joined ETN Polystorage as I am very passionate about the energy storage field, sustainability and circular economy. I believe these are the main areas requiring innovative solutions to make green future a possibility and hopefully my contribution to this project will help to achieve it.

In my free time, I enjoy baking, travelling and photography.
