Research topic: Development of advanced all-solid-state polymer electrolytes using innovative rapid and solvent-free procedures

Hi, I’m Ying Zhang from China. I received the degree of Master of Research in Advanced Chemical Sciences from University of Liverpool. My master thesis was about the investigation of novel non-aqueous electrolytes for Lithium-ion and Potassium-ion batteries. After graduating, I took a position of research assistant in the field of surface functionalization.

I’m fascinated with applied materials, electrochemistry and energy storage/conversion devices, which is why I chose to apply for the POLYSTORAGE ESR position. Moreover, the challenging opportunity of working on real-life technical issues and acting across multiple countries and organizations has given me further motivation.

My hosting institution is Politecnico di Torino in Italy, and I’ll carry out the PhD project under the supervision of Prof. Claudio Gerbaldi. The goal of the project is to obtain advanced all-solid-state polymer electrolytes, specifically focusing on the synthesis and characterization of composite polymer electrolytes with good properties in terms of ionic conductivity, thermal stability, compatibility with the electrodes, etc.

In my spare time, I enjoy doing sports, and the martial arts is my favourite. Besides, I’m also a beginner in photography and drawing.
