About

Jean-Francois Gohy is full professor at Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain), Belgium.

Jean-Francois Gohy obtained his PhD in 1999 at University of Liège, Belgium. After a post-doctoral stay at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), The Netherlands) from 2001‒2002, he returned to Belgium and joined the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain) and became full professor in 2011.

His domains of interest include the modern synthesis of (precision) polymers by "living" and “controlled” polymerization techniques, ionic polymers, liquid crystals, surfactants, supramolecular chemistry, self-associating polymers in aqueous and non-aqueous media, stimuli-responsive materials, nanomaterials, adsorption of polymers on substrates, nano-patterned surfaces; lithium-polymer batteries, sustainable and green processes for battery materials. His work was awarded, e.g., by the Marcel De Merre price (2018) and his memberships include, e.g, the National Committee of Belgian Royal Academy of Sciences from 2012 to 2020 and Belgian Polymer Group (BPG) as President since 2019.

Jean-Francois Gohy supervised more than 28 master students, 13 PhD students and 15 post docs at UCLouvain since 2003. His scientific work involves more than 220 papers in peer-reviewed international scientific journals and more than 8’000 citations (H-index of 50 SCOPUS 06/2020).
