Research topic: Ionic-liquid polymer electrolytes for Na-air batteries

Pierre Stigliano was born and raised in Italy. He earned his B.Sc. in Materials Science from the University of Milan-Bicocca in November 2017. For his bachelor thesis he worked at De Nora industries on Zinc/Air batteries. He continued in the same field and earned his M.Sc. in April 2020, spending a semester at the University of Aix-Marseille as an ERASMUS student. For his master thesis he worked on highly concetrated electrolytes.
He was recruited for the POLYSTORAGE project by Deakin University (Melbourne) but started on October 2020 at POLYMAT institute is San Sebastian. His project is focused on developing solid-state electrolytes for Sodium-Air Batteries, specifically Ionic Liquids based Ionogels.
Thanks to his studies and research experiences he became passionate about electrochemistry. "I am very happy to be part of POLYSTORAGE project, as it allows me to work in a high level research environment and give my little contribution to the progress of such an important field as energy storage. I'm sure I can grow as a researcher and a person aswell" he said.
Outside the lab, what Pierre most enjoys is playing basketball.
